The 1999 Deadwood Fan Club

[click on a fan to find out more about them] There is more to the success of the Deadwoods than their on-the-field performance. The support of the fans has as much to do with it as the talented players and outstanding coaching. Here, we acknowledge the contributions of each of the Deadwood faithfull.

Mrs. Beef (a.k.a. Liz): Although not particularly fond of being called Mrs. Beef, Liz is one of our most dedicated fans. She gets up 5:30 am every gameday morning to set out Beef's clothes. Beef still hasn't figured out that the cloths with the pink giraff label don't match with those with the blue elephant label.

Mrs. Chi-Chi (a.k.a. Mary): Mrs. Chi Chi is the most patient of Deadwood fans. She says that waiting for Chi Chi to pop the big question is like waiting for the Deadwoods to win a post-season tournament. Well, now that she is really Mrs. Chi Chi, where is that trophy?

Mrs. Cup (a.k.a. B-Cup or Beth): Apparently Mrs. Cup has a real bad temper and doesn't like it when Cup gets home late from the games. Rumor has it that he wears his "protective apparatus" all the way home ... just to play it safe.

Mrs. Flex (a.k.a. Tina): Oh boy. Flex sure found himself a classy woman here. Though Mrs. Flex may look sweet, innocent, and shy, she is a lush in the true Deadwood spirit. She is frequntly seen with beer stains on her clothing and has to be driven home from most Deadwood events. Sound like anyone else you know?

Mrs. Lurch (a.k.a. Melinda): In order to maintain his disproportionately large head, Lurch frequently needs to be told how wonderful he is. Mrs. Lurch is a better liar than anyone else on the team.

Dr. Magic (a.k.a. Karen): Dr. Magic is the unofficial score/stat keeper of the Deadwoods. We appreciate her services so much that we have kept Magic on the roster a few years longer than we would have liked to.

Mrs. Reckless (a.k.a. Andrea): Mrs. Reckless serves as a nurse for Reckless, as he has become a permanent member of the Deadoods' injured reserves.

Mrs. Rocky (a.k.a. Susan): Mrs. Rocky actually doesn't care for softball. She just goes to the games to make sure that Rocky finds his way home after the game.

Mrs. Root (a.k.a. Rona): Rona's most impressive accomplishment to date has been taming that wild beast know as Root. She is also a wonderfull cook. She keeps Root on a diet to maintain his delicate balance of speed and strength.

Mrs. Sledge (a.k.a. Michelle): Mr. and Mrs. Sledge are apparently old high school sweet-hearts. Sledge says that she makes him feel like he still is in high school. The rest of the team would like to share her secrets.

Mrs. Scoop (a.k.a. Leslea): Mr. and Mrs. Scoop were recently married this summer. Since then she has been picking out the cutest little outfits for Scoop, including a racy little cut-off T-shirt that shows his "one pack." We can hardly wait to see the matching cut-off jeans.

Mrs. Tex (a.k.a. Carla): Tex still has a hard time finding his way to the field. As a dedicated fan, Mrs. Tex drives him to every game. The team has asked Mrs. Tex to start picking out his game-cloths so that he would quit wearing those fishnet tank-tops.

Tom Pratt: The man who started it all when he said "let's start a new team and get rid of the deadwood".
