All-Rocky Team Selections are Final

Only six Deadwoods make cut

The All-Rocky team has been selected for the 1996 President's Tournament. The selections have stirred controversy as only six Deadwoods made the team. The Deadwoods who made the cut (i.e. cut the check) include: Rocky, Flex, Lurch, Big Dog, Magic and Goose. Asked why none of the Deadwood pitching staff made the team, Rocky said "those guys just don't look ready yet. Root is a little under his playing weight, Sparky doesn't have the stamina to play a whole game yet, and Blade is a human batting machine." Most notable, is the absence of power hitters Sledge and Beefmaster. "Those guys are pretty fragile. I didn't want to risk them getting injured and missing the regular season." Reckless, a two-sport athlete, will still be skiing and is not in shape for softball. Tex, Chi Chi and Chong round out the list of Deadwoods who didn't make the team. The most controversial selection was Lurch, who is often criticized for only having warning-track power.
